We’re proud of our unwavering commitment to performance with integrity. As part of this ongoing commitment, we maintain a confidential, and if desired anonymous Ethics Hotline.

The Ethics Hotline is a way for Aecon employees and others to raise concerns or report wrongdoing. It is operated by an independent third party and offers you the ability to report anonymously, in full confidence and without fear of retaliation.

Who can use the Ethics Hotline?

All employees of Aecon, its joint ventures and third parties with whom Aecon has a business relationship (such as clients, suppliers and consultants) can use the Ethics Hotline if they have a concern or they observe wrongdoing by an Aecon company or employee.

What to Report

  • Actions that are against Aecon’s core values
  • Violations of the law or of Aecon’s Code of Ethics and Business Conduct, Supplier Code of Conduct or other policy
  • Environmental, health and safety concerns
  • Any activity that may be an indication of fraud, bribery or corruption
  • Concerns related to accounting, internal accounting controls or audit matters
  • Actual or potential retaliation as a result of reporting a concern or for assisting in an investigation

What Not to Report

You should not use this Ethics Hotline to report events presenting an immediate threat to life or property. If you require emergency assistance, please call 911 or contact your local emergency services.

You should also not use this Ethics Hotline to report “customer service” or similar type matters such as:

  • Project durations or service timelines
  • Operational impacts on public or private property
  • Negative interactions with site workers
  • Inquiries related to investing in Aecon

To report such matters, please contact Aecon’s Head Office:

  1. By emailing aecon@aecon.com
  2. By calling 416-297-2600

What will happen when I contact the Ethics Hotline?

  1. You will complete a report intake form over the phone with a live operator or online. The information you provide will be used to conduct an appropriate investigation.
  2. After you complete your report, you will be assigned a unique code called a “Report Key” with a password, which should be kept in a safe place.
  3. Use your Report Key to check on the progress of your report or to receive feedback or questions from your Aecon Case Manager.

What happens when Aecon receives a report?

  1. Your report will be passed on to an Aecon Case Manager to decide the appropriate action.
  2. Depending on the nature of the concern or allegation, an internal or external investigation team may be assigned. Details of the concern, and your identity and any persons mentioned in the report are kept confidential and only shared on a strict need-to-know basis.
  3. The investigation will focus on an objective, factual analysis of the case and if the allegations are found to be true, Aecon’s senior management will decide on the action(s) to be taken.
