Aecon secures fabrication contract for oilsands

Cambridge, Ontario– March 3, 2008: Aecon Group Inc. (TSX: ARE) announced today that its Industrial Central division has secured a fabrication contract valued at over $25 million for an oilsands project in Alberta.

Under the contract, Aecon Industrial will perform pipe spool fabrication for Shell Canada’s Scotford Upgrader Expansion 1. The project will be carried out at Aecon’s Cambridge, Ontario fabrication facility. Work includes approximately 500,000 diameter inches of welding for carbon, stainless and alloy steel pipe spools and is scheduled to continue until Spring 2009.

This marks Aecon’s second contract for work on the Shell Upgrader Scotford Expansion 1. Aecon Industrial’s Western division is currently performing module work, which includes the fabrication of specialty pipe and the assembly of approximately 200 pipe rack and process modules for the Upgrader.
