Aecon awarded $31 million contract for reconstruction of Smiths Falls District Hospital

Toronto , Ontario – August 26, 2008: Aecon Group Inc. (TSX: ARE) announced today that its Buildings Division has been awarded a contract totaling approximately  $31.5 million for the re-development of the Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital in Smiths Falls, Ontario.

Under the contract, Aecon will build a new 58,000 square foot multi-level wing addition to the hospital. Also included in the project is the renovation of 70,000 square feet of the existing hospital structure, and the reconfiguration of the exterior parking area. The project will be completed in three phases, with work beginning in September 2008, and a scheduled completion date of December 2010.

Aecon now has four hospital contracts underway, including work on the IWK Health Centre in Halifax, the Rouge Valley Health System in Ajax, and the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute in Toronto as well as this new contract.
