For the past nine years Aecon has celebrated Safety Day at every office location and project site across Canada. In honour of its 10th anniversary and in recognition of the company’s ongoing commitment to safety and “Safety First” core value, Aecon hosted its inaugural Safety Week from Monday, September 29 to Friday, October 3.
“Safety Week is Aecon’s platform to showcase and reinforce our commitment to safety, both in ensuring a safe workplace across our job sites and delivering the needs of our clients and partners,” said Teri McKibbon, President and CEO, from a Safety Week event in Oakville, Ontario. “Aecon’s safety track record is our true competitive advantage. Safety performance is a major determining factor, as clients only want to work and partner with contractors that have industry-leading safety programs.”
Over 14,000 employees, clients and partners attended a Safety Week event at one of over 130 project sites and office locations across Canada.
Safety Week attendees were also treated to a “Toolbox Talk” video presentation hosted by Teri McKibbon, where employees from across the company spoke about their personal commitment to safety and what a strong safety culture means to them.
Aecon maintains a leading safety record and has received numerous third party safety awards, including the Canadian Construction Association’s National Safety Award.
